Robert Lavender lived in the small community of Aylesford located
along the Evangeline Trail in Nova Scotia's Annapolis Valley, and
was active during the third quarter of the 20th century. He is best
known for his bird carvings, which are widely collected. During the
time he was active he carved just about every native bird of the
Maritime provinces.
